In the small intestine, digestive enzymes from the pancreas and bile produced by the liver help break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates into forms that can be absorbed into the bloodstream and used by the body.<\/p>\n
The remaining undigested material then passes into the large intestine (colon), where water and electrolytes are absorbed. The remaining waste is formed into stool, stored in the rectum, and ultimately eliminated from the body.<\/p>\n
