This includes conditions involving the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, and pancreas.<\/p>\n<p>Gastroenterologists receive specialized training in both the normal function of these organs and the wide range of diseases that can affect them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Example;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Indigestion and persistent digestive discomfort<\/li>\n<li>Abdominal pain<\/li>\n<li>Constipation or diarrhea<\/li>\n<li>Nausea and vomiting<\/li>\n<li>Heartburn and acid reflux<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty or pain when swallowing<\/li>\n<li>Gastritis<\/li>\n<li>Peptic ulcers<\/li>\n<li>Gastrointestinal bleeding<\/li>\n<li>Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn\u2019s disease and ulcerative colitis<\/li>\n<li>Diverticular disease<\/li>\n<li>Polyps of the colon and other parts of the gastrointestinal tract<\/li>\n<li>Celiac disease and other food-related gastrointestinal disorders<\/li>\n<li>Liver diseases, including hepatitis<\/li>\n<li>Jaundice<\/li>\n<li>Gallstones and diseases of the bile ducts<\/li>\n<li>Pancreatitis and other pancreatic diseases<\/li>\n<li>Unexplained weight loss<\/li>\n<li>Cancers of the esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum, liver, bile ducts, and pancreas<\/li>\n<li>Colorectal cancer screening and the detection and removal of precancerous polyps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gastroenterologists are trained to evaluate these and many other symptoms and conditions involving the digestive system and to determine the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment approach for each patient.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Endoscopy and Other Procedures<br \/>\n<\/strong>In addition to providing medical care for digestive diseases, gastroenterologists receive specialized training in procedures used to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal, biliary, and pancreatic conditions.<\/p>\n<p>These include upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy), colonoscopy, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), as well as other diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Through these procedures, gastroenterologists can directly examine the digestive tract, obtain tissue samples when necessary, identify and remove certain polyps, evaluate sources of gastrointestinal bleeding, and perform a variety of therapeutic interventions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How Is a Gastroenterologist Trained?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Becoming a gastroenterologist requires many years of medical education and specialized training.<\/p>\n<p>In T\u00fcrkiye, physicians first complete six years of medical school.
