Who Are We?
The Young Gastroenterologists Group (GGG) is an initiative of the Türk Gastroenteroloji Derneği (TGD) that brings together gastroenterology trainees and specialists within the first five years of completing their subspecialty training.
Our journey began in 2018, when a group of early-career gastroenterologists completing compulsory service connected through social media. What initially began as a platform to get to know one another, share experiences, and discuss the professional and social challenges encountered during compulsory service gradually evolved into a growing network of young gastroenterologists across Türkiye.
With the support of the TGD Board of Directors, the GGG has developed into an official platform within the Society. Our goal is to strengthen communication among gastroenterology trainees and early-career specialists, experienced faculty members, and the TGD leadership, while reaching colleagues throughout Türkiye who have not yet had the opportunity to become involved.
Our Aim
The YGG aims to build a strong, connected, and collaborative community of young gastroenterologists. By promoting communication, professional solidarity, and teamwork, we seek to support our members throughout the early stages of their careers and to facilitate effective solutions to shared professional challenges in collaboration with the TGD Board of Directors.
Another important priority is to increase awareness of educational and professional development opportunities available to young gastroenterologists. We encourage our members to take an active role in scholarships, courses, schools, training programs, and other initiatives offered by TGD as well as international organizations, including the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Young Talent Group (YTG).
We believe that today’s young gastroenterologists will become the educators, researchers, clinicians, and academic leaders of tomorrow. By creating opportunities for them to connect, collaborate, and grow together, the GGG aims to help build a strong foundation for the future of gastroenterology in Türkiye.
