World Congress of Gastroenterology / WCOG Istanbul 2019
We had the honor and excitement of hosting the ‘World Congress of Gastroenterology’, which was brought to our country after extensive efforts and is a source of rightful pride and happiness for us.
The World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG) was held in Istanbul from 21-24 September 2019.

WGO largely emerged thanks to the initiative of Georges Brohée (1887-1957), a Belgian Surgeon and Radiologist who significantly promoted modern Gastroenterology, notably by founding the Belgian Society of Gastroenterology in 1928 and organizing the first International Congress of Gastroenterology in Brussels in 1935.
Ongoing efforts culminated in the establishment of the “Organization Mondiale de Gastro-entérologie” (OMGE) and the first World Congress of Gastroenterology, held on May 29, 1958, in Washington, D.C., USA.
